The Lucona Affair consists mostly of classically styled waltz cues mixed in with some more jazzy suspense stuff. Looking at my John Scott collection, I'd say it's probably my least favorite of his scores that I own, though that really has more to do with the incredibly high stanards set by his other scores.

I just listened to two of my favorites of his today: Yor and Shogun Mayeda, which was my very first John Scott cd and remains my absolute favorite by him. I'm playing his score to The Deceivers right now, I love the theme in that one.

It's good to see that William the Conqueror has finally been reissued. I'll definitely need to pick that one up, along with a few more of his Cousteau discs.

What are all the various Cousteau discs?



Man the Scott releases are expensive....I know that I want Antony and Cleopatra, "Conducts His Favorite Scores" and hte Concerts Pour L'aventure...but I just saw 20,000 leagues on sci fi channel the other day and it was a great score....and i see great things about the final countdown, north star, william the conqueror...

Considering Scott releases the scores himself as a service to fans (he certainly can't make much money off them), I think the price is right. Same price as most FSM or Intrada releases, in any case.

Of those, I've got Parc Oceanique, Amazon Part 1, Papua New Guinea, and The First 75 Years. All great cds, especially Parc Oceanique which has some amazing music for whales. The track "Cathedral of the Blue Whale" is actually a five minute church organ solo!

The North Star is another favorite of mine. Great theme, intense action cues, and one of my favorite end titles ever.

Shergar is another good one.
