Has anyone else noticed considerable tape hiss on the quieter moments? Did I get a bad disc or is this the shape of the recording? I have not heard the Varese in a long time so if someone can set me straight please do!

There is some tape hiss, but I suspect it's the source, and nothing can be done about it.

From what I've read online, the hiss is considerably less than the Varese version.

Thank you. It kinda sucks but ultimately noise reduction impedes sound quality. Everything else sounds superb on it!

Thanks to this speculator, 10 collectors have to pay 70- 100 US$ for a cd that for one day only (less than 3 weeks ago) has been on sale at the regular price of 19.99 US$.

Intrada, please, next time don't sale so many copies to this speculator, thanks.

I've been making my way through the CD for days now, as I drive back.

I love this score -- don't care what others say about it. The wiring is strong, the viariation nice, the experimental writing and ideas (something I feel missing from Silvestri's efforts as of late) just fantastic. To call this a pivitol score in his career, would be accurate if you ask me. To call this a quintissential film score, would be proper in most score loving circles. To call this essential 1980's -- right on! I don't know what it was about the 1980's that made composers just go nuts with great scores (especially considering some of the cheese and lack-luster films), but I'm glad they did. I wonder: were overseas scores as good during that decade (like say, Italian scores -- for example)?

The sound qaulity is excellent. All that crappy distortion ... gone. Tape hiss, almost gone. Some tracks it's still noticable -- but not a darn tootin' thing you can do about it without removing part of the sound. One minor quibble, but more of a personal taste and nothing at all involving Intrada -- the digital masters did create an annoying "digital" hiss in one track; that is to say, on top of the hiss, you get this sort of high frequency sound -- hard to describe. When the track picked up, it was buried in '80's awesomeness.

I've not read the linear notes (been busy writing stuff of my own -- a TV series I hope to do one day; into Episode 12 of Season 1 now).


All I can say is, this was needed, thank goodness Intrada recognized that, and than goodness new digital masters were found (was this find made by you guys, or the studio?). Hopefully someone like Intrada can do the same for a complete (and I mean all -- even if some cues were not written by him) score to "Ghostbusters" one day.
