NEW From FSM: ISLANDS IN THE STREAM OST!

Of course I'll buy the FSM release of the ISLANDS soundtrack. Not only has Goldsmith been my favorite composer for as long as many Intrada customers have been alive, but this is one of my three most favorite scores, created for one of my 10 most favorite films.

But Doug, I want to thank you publicly for having issued your ISLANDS album. In past discussions on this forum I have stated my general aversion to rerecordings; but back in December 1986, a full album-length rerecording of a score was still novel. And I felt the Intrada performance was as close to the original as I could have hoped -- possibly because the score was so important to its composer. By that point I already had adored this music for almost 10 years. Your rerecording gave me loving access to hearing it for these past 23 years.

So whatever "critical" remarks about Intrada's ISLANDS disc might be appearing (at FSM's site, I take it) make no difference to me -- as usual. I'll own both recordings.

But if I happen not to live for another 23 years, Doug, then to paraphrase the Thomas Hudson character in that film: I'll have loved yours the longest.

Steven...it's remarks like those you mentioned appearing over at FSM that has kept me from registering on that board.
And let me just chime in here and thank Doug as well. I know a lot of love on everyone's part went in to the creation of Intrada's Islands release, and it has been a favorite of mine since I bought it upon it's initial release! Now we have the original... how lucky we are indeed to have TWO different interpretations of the same score by it's composer!
