The very first score by Jerry Goldsmith I heard, noticed and wanted to get was PATTON.

Today the score which I adore most from the composer's rich discography is STUDS LONIGAN.

But neither of these have any relation to my age. A respectful hat off before you all, senior-film-music-lovers!

OK, another post to further expand on my musical heritage. My older brother was at one time working as a projectionist at local movie theaters. He would occaisionally bring films home for viewing in our basement theater room. This was my first exposure to James Bernard's music to "Horror of Dracula". Both the film and the music left a big impression on me. Then there was Bernard Hermann. My first viewing of "The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad" and "Jason and the Argonauts" was not in local movie theaters, but in our basement. Two of my treasured filmscore LP's are Hermann's "Fantasy World of..." and "Mysterious World of..." on London's Phase 4 stereo releases. What an originator he was when it came to scoring films!!!

Going back to Goldsmith. Now that I think more on it, Bandolero might have been my first exposure before I knew it was Goldsmith. I heard the theme on a compilation LP done with vocals. Not the original. Could it have been Hugo Montenegro and his orchestra??? More of a pop version I think. Also had "Hang 'Em High" on it. I can still hear the male chorus singing "Hang 'em, High" on it. Anybody care to narrow this down?

OK, I have been around a while. But you are never too old (or young) to enjoy filmscores.

My very first Jerry Goldsmith recognition was with TOTAL RECALL, when I bought his score in 1990 in Torqauy, England. Before that, I bought MOON 44 by his son Joel Goldsmith, but was unable to make the connection between them...
