Randy Newman - The Natural
Thomas Newman - American Beauty

The two I think that angered me the most was Fame beating out The Empire Strikes Back and Chariots of Fire beating out Williams masterful Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Also, all the scores that were nominated in 2006 and 2007 that lost to Santaoalla!

PS - Terry - How exactly did Williams get screwed over in 1977 with CLose Encounters when that year he won for Star Wars?!?!?

To answer your question... Because CE3K is(IMO)the superior score(That is NOT any kind of an insult to SW, which I love...whew! Dodged a bullet on THAT one!

). Although you know Williams was delighted to win the oscar for SW, I'm betting that he secretly wishes he had won it for CE3K

How could any chain about Oscar missteps proceed without mentioning Alex North. Their embarassment caused Alex to get a Life Time Achievement Award which means the Academy has said "Boy do we got egg on our faces".
