A simple question. Will the answer be equally simple?

Should I go with 1993 Arista/Fox Classic release of the original tracks (w/ "inferior" sound) or the 2002 Varese/McNeely re-recording?

I'm no snob regarding sound quality most of the time, and also don't have anything against re-recordings most of the time. Does McNeely capture the sound and atmosphere of this classic Herrmann score?
