I've just listened to the CD for the 1st time, and beyond the sound issues (which become annoying in some parts), I must say this is an exquisite Château Silvestri !

You've got everything Silvestri loves to compose for action movie : diabolic syncopated rythms and jungle beats a la Predator, hugely brassy parts, electronic pulsative techno beats a la Mission Impossible and Tomb Raider 2, pure heroic moments a la Eraser.
If you were expecting for more BTTF/The Mummy adventure tunes, be aware that this is the MUSCULAR Silvestri here. No place for playful melodies and candid lyrical flights. But you'll get a gorgeous main theme fully glorified in the end credits !
Alan Silvestri is really the last great action composer !

Has anyone heard back Varese about the sound quality issue surrounding this CD release. I saw a posting over on the FSM forum that was a supposed response back from Varese that read:

"Had a response from Varese re the GI Joe sound quality. Doesn't look good...

We also heard of some web site threads complaining about this disc and have since put effort into getting to the bottom of this. As I'm sure you know, there is a tendency in the message board world to light fires which are not based on facts. There is a great deal of misinformation spread about this way. We did actually receive a few emails about this as well, but the emails from different people were virtually identical ... word for word. We found that a little suspicious.

As a matter of procedure, viewing a spectral analysis of the audio files is never part of the approval process. A mastered album is always carefully listened to by Varèse Sarabande, the album producers and engineers and is approved before it is duplicated. This album went through the same approval process.

I can assure you that, after re-listening to the disc, everyone involved continues to stand behind the sound quality of the disc.

I hope that this is the case, as I wouldn't care to have to buy an inferior product only to have to return it later on.
