Another incredible week for film music fans. It seems every few days I get another release I've been waiting years for. Today I get FOUR great new scores! Wow.

Lonely Are The Brave... wow. The other titles are great, too, but Lonely Are The Brave is a seminal Goldsmith work, his first "major" motion picture, and his first really good movie. A classic performance by Kirk Douglass, with all the things that made Goldsmith scores so special. Excellent. I had always hoped this one would be released one day, can't believe it took so long. Terrific. The Right Stuff is a good Conti score, too. It was another excellent film; hard to believe the soundtrack releases of these two films had to wait until the 21st century to be released.

Does this pave the way for a possible BTTF release in 2010 for the 25th anniversary?

I am delighted and just stunned that we finally get an officially sanctioned LATB, This IS a great day for Goldsmith fans but better than that, a release of a Universal score that portends other great releases yet to come.

I just can't believe "The Right Stuff" is finaly released! A historic moment in film music. I hope there are many more Conti scores on the horizon. "The Right Stuff" is one of my all-time favorite scores. I hope "Baby Boom" or Rocky is next.

My delight at seeing LONELY ARE THE BRAVE on the Varese site was followed immediately by real surprise that Intrada hadn't snagged it instead. Guess I expected that the AMAZING STORIES coup implied an exclusive foot inside Universal's door.

Only six months in and this is the best Goldsmith year in a long time, even if we get nothing more by its end!
