The problem was that Young composed a score that the producers did not agree with which was simply that it was too alien. Thus all of the alien musique concrete electronic scoring was exised in favor of the replacement David Storrs score which was not so creative and eeire, but effective as a basic electronic score can be.
The orchestral segements of Young's score were kept and used, but as this was Young's first big assignment and first big rejection, he took the rejection of his electronic contribution rather hard. Young later accepted what happened as normal Hollywood BS and released his rejected electronics as a special suite on edel records with additional overdubs, etc along with his OASIS score.
Young also utilized his rejected electronic score ideas in a much better film... SPECIES.
