Given that this film is approaching its 30th anniversary and its score by James Horner is so requested by many, I hope its long-awaited expanded release happens sometime this year. |

Because MGM was involved in the production ? Because of Virgin Records, now owned by UMG, maybe ? I think Willow is one of the most pivotal scores in James' career, along with Braveheart, Titanic and Avatar. It is important to make it live again in complete form. Shore's The Lord of Rings saga owes much to Willow, and so do all of the heroic fantasy from the past 30 years. After all, it was the first heroic fantasy score to use celtic/ethnic intruments. It's hard to remember there was a first time, ad it seems so normal today to use those in any heroic fantasy music ! |

Spending, I hope, the last 73mins with the Virgin CD, before Ufgood visits my speakers again ...with some extra pounds added! I've lived with this program for 30 years now....mind-blowing. |
