When you get an idea for a soundtrack release, about how long does it take from original idea to finished product, and what are the different stages?

Keeping this hectic schedule that goes into the production of a single set- the mind boggles that you have to decipher a number of score album requests at a given time with the respective studios. So that each output can be easily rendered as a cd release very single month or every 2 weeks. That's a lot of work which surely takes a lot of pre-planning. Hats off to you guys!
