Hi Doc, please could Intrada offer hi-res (at least 1000x1000) cover art. If possible, could a link be provided to a repository with legacy releases covers as well. Many thanks.

Any chance of this happening? I've noticed that every now and then Creature Features has high-res art for the odd Intrada release on their site.

Is there possibly a legal issue preventing this (such as piracy concerns)?

We're thinking about it. What specifically would you need such high resolution for?

I don't get it either. 500x500 or 600x600 is perfectly fine for any digital music device like an iPod, or any smartphone. In fact my iPod nano doesn't even do all the 500x500 for some reason.

I too would be interested in hi-rez art. It's nice for my cover flow in iTunes on my Mac. :)

LLL does usually put out 1500x1500 I think...even further in the past it was regularly 900x900 or more.

And for a brief period of time, Intrada/FSM/LLL designer Joe Sikoryak did regularly upload 1400x1400 and 1500x1500 covers to Album Art Exchange from his own original files, so you may find some Intrada title covers you're looking for there:
https://www.albumartexchange.com/covers ... r=UPLOADER

Between the three labels, 99 covers in all!

Yaar

1500x1500 is the current standard for more popular releases. 600x600 was the standard for many years in the past. 600x600 works plenty fine for me on my media player (foobar2000), and higher resolution cover art doesn't make the music sound any better.

One thing I would like to see more of from all labels is a full suite of covers for sets such as the recent Waxman compilation, which is just an example as covers for that set were thankfully handled by a talented member of the FSM forum.

I never listen to music on my computer so I honestly didn't even think of a large cover being good for a music player like iTunes. I just use it to transfer from disc to iPod.

A lot of Intrada cover art is fantastic, specially also if it comes from a nice, awesome poster. I second the idea of bigger cover art. I know how annoying it must be to Intrada, probably also bandwith they don't need. But it's not necessary to upload HQ covers of ALL their catalogue. Could start with the future and upgrade old covers whenever.

I'd love to see a larger resolution for images, as well. I often airplay my music to Apple TV and the artwork (on a 4K 65 inch TV) can suffer if it's too small. Plus, it's nice to be able to archive these beautiful covers when ripping and storing CDs.

Hi Doc. That's excellent news.

The standard for album art is currently in the vicinity of 1500x1500 pixels. Most devices (including smartphones) now support display resolutions of at least 1920x1080 or some cropped variant thereof, and many newer devices provide support for even higher resolutions.

Of course 1080p has long been the minimum standard for PC monitors, and much higher resolutions are now being offered by the likes of Apple and others.

The point is, the higher the resolution, the more detail can be discerned, provided the source image is of sufficient quality to begin with. I enjoy my digital album art as much as the music itself, the same way that many collectors enjoy the tangible experience of having physical media in their collection.

Those that do not need art of that resolution are free to scale it down to suit their needs, so everybody wins!

What about those that listen through their MACs, PCs, iPads, tablets and Smart TVs? I'm sure you'll agree that a 600x600 image scaled up to those resolutions looks pretty sad.
