What a lovely woman! And what a composer! The good thing about this recent marathon is that I finally caught up with some Golden and Silver Age stuff. The sad thing about it all...there are CDs on that list that I listened to for the first time, although I had acquired them, say, TWO YEARS ago?! My mind works in mysterious ways...and there are not enough hours to a day! So...what's new? All Best, CK

Yeah, Yavar, I agree, there are a few other gems out there. Also, not every release can be a 3-CD super-deluxe set; there is only so much Capricorn One that can be released. Still, Lord of the Rings is pretty darn special. The set even smells good.

I'm afraid that deluxe or not, the manufacturer of these Lord of the Rings special editions is fleecing film music fans in a way no record label ever has before (and hopefully, never will do again). With all the threads about miniscule, barely-noticeable issues people have with Intrada or Varese CDs, I cannot believe that more has not been said about the unforgivable price being charged for the LOTR CDs. It is shameless and it is wrong and the producer should be ashamed.

The price for the first set was high, but bearable. But a list price over $75.00 for The Two Towers when it doesn't even have a booklet with more pages than Fellowship is REDICULOUS. In comparison the deluxe 4-disc (and this time all DVDs) of the films are less than $25 often. Yavar

I agree about The Two Towers being extremely expensive; it sure stretches to the borders of what I'm willing to pay for a single soundtrack, no matter how good. In fact I waited and got both sets earlier this year when my local record store had a sale. (FOTR for around â‚¬ 45.-, TTT for â‚¬ 55.-) Yet it is a splendid set, exceeding even my expectations. Very well done.
