Happy New Year, everyone! ![]() Today at Amoeba I took a chance on Perseverance's recent Phillip Lambro releases, "Murph the Surf" and "Crypt of the Living Dead". The former is a chilled-out mildly jazzy sort of caper flick score and the latter is a creeeepy scary movie score. As befitting scores for the mid-70s, Lambro keeps things on the lean and mean side rather than going completely nuts with size of orchestra. Very much worth a listen, if anyone's got any extra cash left after the holidays. Someone somewhere was wondering if Perseverance was going to be releasing Lambro's rejected score for "Chinatown" - anyone know one way or another about that? There are elements in both "Murph" and "Crypt" that suggest that his efforts might be worth checking out. |
