I'm not a fan of Max Steiner at all. I'd go for: Sub-Zero: Bernard Herrmann 1. Miklos Rozsa 2. Franz Waxman 3. Dimitri Tiomkin 4. Bronislau Kaper And the next ones would be: 5. Alfred Newman 6. Erich Wolfgang Korngold 7. Hugo Friedhofer And I nearly forgot: put Scott Bradley somewhere on that list. His work on the Tom & Jerry cartoons is nothing short of genius. |

1. Alfred Newman 2. Bernard Herrmann 3. Max Steiner 4. Erich Wolfgang Korngold 5. Franz Waxman 6. Miklos Rozsa 7. Bronislau Kaper 8. Victor Young 5-6 was difficult to choose. I like some Rozsa's works but especially during the 50's... his older noir films i quite dislike, altough I love Thief of Bagdad and those 2 cues I've heard from That Lady Hamilton... Unfortunatelly I am not familiar enough with works of Copland or Friedhofer - i have heard few of his scores which I liked but to include him on the list of favorite, i think I'd need to know more... |
