Yeah I also own the complete ballet on CD, but I always tends to say Bruns composed it to promote him, because everybody knows Tchaikovsky composed Sleeping Beauty but few people knows about Bruns doing this fabulous arrangement.

Brun's greatest moment of brilliance is taking that little piece for the cat or whatever it was, and making it the musical representation of the evil fairy, arranging that three note motif for solo voice. He completley transforms the Tchaikovsky but it's fantastic and one of the creepiest moments in movie music that I know. Great, beautiful film too. The first widescreen Disney animated film, and the only one for 2 decades afterwards.

Another list, again best of, this time in a given year from 1033 to today. No strict parameters, just a mixture of actual best score, personal favorite, composer most deserving that year, gut feeling, the oujia board indicated I pick that one, least likely to get me killed etc. ;)

Chris1770... I just have to know, out of all the Goldsmith scores of the 1990's, why in the world you would pick "Fierce Creatures"? I mean, it's a pleasant album, but... ????

Yet you include Judge Dredd, which is (fun) overblown orchestra stuff, no? :)
