If you guys are unfamiliar with his score to "In Love and War," then you'd be AMAZED at the glorious score Friedhofer wrote for it.

Unbelievably gorgeous.

There's a nice suite from it on CD but it ain't like the real thing.

I think the Friedhofer market has grown considerably since 10 years ago. I think word of his quality music has been spreading, slowly but surely. People talk about him in the same breath as Newman, Waxman, Rozsa again.

I know the Marco Polo Friedhofer album's sad sales. There are a number of reasons for that IMO, but that's an older album. I know that more recently Hilda Crane/Mamie Stover wasn't your hottest seller. I think that's because of the films -- as Lukas Kendall has said, "women's pictures" and soap drama scores do poorly, even if it's quality work. But look at your Warlock/Violent Saturday album. That sold out pretty quickly.

Another Friedhofer re-recording project I would suggest to someone to do at some point or other is The Bandit of Sherwood Forest. At least Friedhofer saved his sketches (which were extremely detailed) since '42 and in some cases others saved the full scores so some money could be saved there.

But that said, if some Waxman or Newman re-recordings (with the original tracks lost, The Mark of Zorro is a prime candidate...Zorro on his own should sell some copies of that score!) are in the pipeline I certainly won't mind the wait for more Friedhofer too much...
