Looking forward to Djawadi's music for this series. His Game of Thrones work progressed into something quite amazing. One cue for this new series has been released, though it sounds like Djawadi got a bit of writer's block straight out of the gate and extracted some of his Westworld music.

Loving Djawadi's work on this so far, with already quite a few memorable cues sticking to my brain. The music fits like a glove while actually being melodic and interesting.

The new LOTR series, on the other hand, is an overproduced bore in every respect. McCreary is one of the most talented composers working today, but just like the content for which it is written, the music for that series meanders in overly familiar territory.

The way Ramin scored a decaying Viserys struggling to the throne is on a James Horner level of emotion. What an incredible scene.

I think much of what makes Djawadi's GOT and HOTD scores so good and interesting is that he managed to achieve a unique voice despite his beginnings in the school of Zimmer. It is extremely rare these days to not be able to link a composer's approach to that of someone else. Some could argue that his action cues tend to fit typical modern stylings, but even those have some marked otherworldly differentiation.

The music becomes a large part of the characters, as it should, which results in an incredible individual such as Rhaenyra developing into someone much bigger than life. Makes real life a little less pointless.
