Hello, My brother, Rich MacD passed away earlier this month after several years of declining health. He has been a member of this group since it's beginning in 2005 and had accumulated quite a large collection of soundtracks. I'm hoping some of you can help me with suggestions on the best way to start liquidating his collection. I have started cataloging, but it could take me months just to enter all the information into a database to know what I have. Any suggestions on where to sell, or even how to begin would be greatly appreciated. They are about 95% new soundtracks and a few used. All have been stored well and are still brand new, but wow they sure take up a lot of space. Thank you in advance for any guidance you can provide me with as I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and not sure where to begin. |

Discogs (like ebay for music people) Intrada or Screen Archives to buy and sell for fair prices Just....not Goodwill. I've been raiding a local collection via Goodwill, lots of rare items (once!?) & felt guilt throughout. When I die alone, I hope my life's work....doesnt land in Goodwill for 2 bucks....that which once sold, confirmed, for $2,500. Truly sorry for your loss |

GoblinScore, Goodwill not an option. He treasured these more than anything and there are thousands of them that he spent a small (or maybe even medium) fortune on. I know it will be a lot of work, just hoping they will actually sell. Are there very many serious collectors out there? Do soundtracks sell very easily, or am I looking at storing these for years? Thanks for the info on Discogs, I have been using them to start a massive spreadsheet to work off of and was wondering how popular of a sight they are with serious collectors. Does Intrada or Screen Archives buy from Collectors and resell? I feel like such a newb, thanks for helping me out. |

You might want to try Peter at moviemusic.com....he is the BEST! He will give you a fair price for some, perhaps all, of the collection. |
