I saw a thread where it was hard for someone to fathom skipping tracks on these expanded albums. I actually thought it was a normal thing to do, because a lot of scores have music that arguably don't lend well to an isolated listening experience.

Does anyone consistently listen to every single cue within all of the expanded soundtracks they buy? Personally, I think most expansions have bloat that I feel is a waste of time to include in my own configurations. When I buy an expansion, it is usually for the addition of a few standout cues and possible quality improvements.

I tend to listen to albums I buy straight through, from beginning to end. I dislike if I had to fiddle with a piece of music first when I just want to listen to it.

That does not mean I always listen to every single track. There are albums with a lot of source music, like CHINATOWN, CRY, THE BELOVED COUNTRY, LOLITA... sometimes, I skip those, sometimes, I leave them in.
The Prometheus CD had the cue "That's real music" thrown into the main program, I always skipped that track, it just did not belong there and was unconnected to the rest of the score.

But normally, I would want to listen to a composition as is, not skipping any tracks.

That does not mean always listen to entire CDs/albums. Sometimes, CDs, contain several compositions (like two symphonies, two film scores, etc.), so I often only listen to one of them. Bonus Tracks, Alternates etc. are usually cues I turn to separately, so I "skip" those when I just listen to a score.

But yes, by and large, I put on a CD (album, filmscore) and expect it to play through... that's the idea.

For me I don't understand why someone would pay a decent amount of money for a CD only to never listen to a third of it.

I skip newly re-recorded "suite" from last edition of Omen. Actually I even remove it from my digital library )))
Same was with BSX suite from High Road to China...
