Before we get into the music you will hear a brief history of the movie trailer. For this section, Erik has referenced portions of Matthew Schimkowitz’s essay published on hopesandfear.com called AN EPIC HISTORY OF THE MOVIE TRAILER. We thank Matt for being so cooperative in allowing us to quote portions of his extremely well-researched essay in the program. Afterwards, you will then hear suites featuring the trailer music of John Debney (LAIR, THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST), Jerry Goldsmith (RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II, EXTREME PREJUDICE), and John Williams (BACHELOR FLAT, 1941, HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE, NIXON). You’ll also hear a video game suite featuring music by Jack Wall (MYST III: EXILE), Gareth Coker (ORI AND THE BLIND FOREST) and Chad Seiter (RECORE).
