Now this is one that I'd love to see arise on CD, unreleased in any format currently. I know other boards have discussed this score as being one of Myers' best -- from what I've heard, it certainly a good candidate. The film is alot of fun, too, featuring a great end title from Myers. Thoughts?

Also... I enjoy his score to TORRENTS OF SPRING (aka "Les Eaux Printanières") which is available on the CAM label and on iTunes, especially the "Woods of Spring" cue, it's quite beautiful:

Myers wrote a very interesting score for Absolution starring Richard Burton. Eerie use of a banjo.

Yeah! I've thrown this out on various forums before and gotten nothing but stony silence in return - good to know there's SOMEONE who appreciates it. I'd buy a score CD in a second. Seems like it'd be right up Percepto's alley.

I would love to see The Witches released as well. I haven't seen it in so long, maybe ten years, but I still remember that final scene and the end credit music. Wonderful, magical stuff.

There is still a lot of Stanley Myers music unreleased. "The Witches" (1990) is perhaps the most famous, but also "Dreamchild" (1985) and "Eureka" (1982) would be very welcome.

Is he the same composer for THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES mini series from 1980?

I recall THE WITCHES as being quite good but admit it's been years since I've heard it. Little anecdote: when we did Stanley Myer's score for TRUSTING BEATRICE many moons ago, he made a point of saying he felt neglected. Since we did that CD, I haven't seen too many others come along. Sadly, it looks like he was right.

Sitting Target (1972)
Re-issued by Finders Keepers Records, about a year ago.
If more people would buy it, than maybe they do another one.

Among the few that managed to come along, and a real beautiful soundtrack it is too.

Stanley Myers music is like the movies of David Lynch or David Cronenberg, you get it,... or you don't.

Quartet is dipping their toe into Myers-land with their double-header of his score for "Castaway" (composed with some no-name little whippersnapper called Hans Zimmer) paired with Michael Kamen's for "Mona Lisa". Now, they're probably gonna lose their shirts on this - I can only buy one, alas - but if by some miracle they don't, maybe this will attract enough attention that Myers' "Witches" might see a release at long last? I choose to remain optimistic. :D

I would love to see more Myers on CD, especially The Witches. That's just a magical score at times. It deserves to be released.

Great score. It might be wise for everyone wanting a release to contact La La Land Records. Looks to be their domain.

I was thinking the same thing because of the Jim Henson Company connection.

It's a shame that Stanley Myers himself felt neglected. It seems that some composers don't care one bit about their representation on album, but to have someone who truly did care have so little released is a bit disappointing. He composed plenty of fine scores that would stand well on album (especially from the 70s and 80s), but availability of elements and licensing simply does not seem to favor some composers nearly as well as others.

I'd like to resurrect this thread and see if there's any chance that this will be released on CD someday?
I came across the movie and score again last night and I was reminded of how much I love this score and how sorely I miss owning it on CD.
It was the same with WHITE FANG and then bang! Intrada released my holy grail.
So, if wishes do come true, I really hope for another Intrada miracle... :D :D
Cheers,
Uwe

I'd be first in line to purchase it. Myers is one of the most underrated composers to have ever worked in films, and The Witches among his finest efforts.

How I wish he'd lived long enough to have scored a Harry Potter sequel.
