From FSM: As for the Waxman titles Sony Music has decided to not do deals any more with all the labels so it does throw a monkey wrench into some plans. Hopefully things will change. We'll see MV Yes. We have 2 major projects pending but other than that the other titles we were looking into and/or started some work on were scrapped. The letter went out to all the labels MV https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/ ... &archive=0 Hope Intrada has some titles far enough along. ![]() |

That's quite the pain for LLL because not only are they denied Fox titles, they're now denied Sony Titles. As are Quartet, Kritzerland and Varese. Intrada will at least retain Fox. |

There has been a slow trickle of vintage Sony Music-owned albums making their digital debut on 7Digital and the like, so it seems that this was their interest for some time. |

Not getting an expanded Free Willy 2 by Basil Poledouris is the biggest loss here, for me. Major bummer, this news. Yavar |

Any reasoning behind it or is someone just being a punk? |

My personal hope is that some Horner titles were picked up by Intrada (or LLL, or someone) before Sony Music closed the gates. Sneakers, The Perfect Storm, The Spitfire Grill, Bicentennial Man, The Mask of Zorro maybe? Great album releases came through Sony, and many of Horner's later scores were given generous releases by them. Although it is a shame they did this, I remain optimistic about other material. |

This reminds me of Nurse Ratched turning off the television during the world series. |

Thanks Roger for the confirmation. Two titles is something at least. Hope they are two good ones! |

Well, Roger posted this on the other side of the board: “In fact we have many albums done stuck in approvals so March may not have much. But a glimpse of some composers you can expect to see over the next several months - Joel McNeely, John Barry, Jerry Goldsmith, Basil Poledouris (sigh), Bill Conti, John Williams, James Horner, Hugo Friedhofer, Bruce Broughton, Craig Safan, Chris Young, Lalo Schifrin, Sylvester Levay and more!” So...what albums by these composers were originally released by Sony? (Maybe I should have a little hope for Free Willy 2 after all!) Yavar |
