There's seems to be a handful of soundtracks that seem to be missing one cool cue that if they had just included it, the album wouldn't have needed an expansion. I'm going to post some examples of these (taken right from the film soundtracks, so settle down). I'll make it part of a game to guess what they are, although some of these are going to super super easy. Whether or not these are releasable in the future is anyone's guess. We'll start off with this one, which is actually a studio logo composed during the film sessions. The score proper is fairly complete on the album, had they just included this it would have been perfect because it's a cool little fanfare. I heard the sessions, there was at least one more completely different versions before they settled on this one. If you want to try and guess, here are the links. Answers below if you want to cheat. Neat idea for a thread, Roger! I remember one you told us about in the past -- it was like a fanfare less than a minute long that you wanted to add to SpaceCamp, but as it was so short and the only highlight you felt was left off, you guys went the more straightforward route of just licensing the original album. Kev McGann at the FSM board likes to regularly bring up the unreleased 20-second coda Goldsmith wrote to segue out of the song for the Twilight's Last Gleaming End Credits...apparently it couldn't be located at the time of the CD premiere of this score (strange to me that they couldn't just take it from the film itself): https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/ ... &archive=0 More (poor Kev!): "The 20 second coda by Goldsmith, after the End Title song, is just so brilliant and breaks my heart with its yearning feel. I wish it could have been included on the CD" https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/ ... &archive=0 "I truly adore the 20 second coda that fades in as the End Title song fades out (which sadly couldn't be found when compiling the CD). To me, that short piece of music defines the Goldsmith sound and why I love it so much." https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/ ... &archive=0 And even one more time in this thread...which also seems to reveal there's a couple other missing cues, but nobody's speaking out for them in the way Kev is for his memorable missing 20 seconds! (Great Escape: "If I remember correctly, it's about 5 minutes worth or less of very short cues (none longer than a minute) from the last 20 minutes of the film. The argument/standoff between Lancaster and Winfield, Durning on the ground when he's dying, and the coda after the end song. Am I missing anything?") https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/ ... &archive=0 Yavar |

I'd say either something North or early Jarre. |

Oooh, I remembered another one that you've told us about, Roger! The cue from the end of Lilies of the Field where Homer Smith writes his name on the rock. That was the key cue you pointed out missing on the album. (Do we still have a definitive answer about whether that album was a re-recording or the film recording, even?) Yavar |
