I owe the Intrada Forum a huge thank you. As a result of the forum, I have been able to strike up an ongoing email friendship with James Macmillan in Scotland. That friendship has had spinoff rewards. Alan Hamer, the European director of the Miklos Rozsa Society, and his wife, who are friends of James, are currently visiting in Canada. Thanks to James, today I was able to spend a delightful, informative, and stimulating several hours with Alan talking about our shared love of film music. Oh, the anecdotes... When I asked Alan how he thought Rozsa might have scored our meeting, he responded with Theo and Vincent's theme (the 'Brotherly Love" theme) from LUST FOR LIFE. Me, I was thinking busy counterpoint (we met in a major commuter station) with minimalist woodwinds resonant of an urban score like EAST SIDE/WEST SIDE. I like Alan's reply better. Thanks, James. It is generosity like yours that contributes to making the world a better place.
