UPDATE: September 30, 2018 INTERNATIONAL PODCAST DAY FILM MUSIC ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION http://www.cinematicsound.net/internati ... iscussion/ HAPPY INTERNATIONAL PODCAST DAY! Welcome one and all to this very special International Podcast Day broadcast here on CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO. On the program, and to help celebrate International Podcast Day, we are featuring a film music roundtable discussion. On Sunday, September 23rd, at 8 pm Robert Daniels, David Coscina, Jason Drury and I crammed ourselves in one of the production studios at CKWR in Waterloo. We sat there and chatted for 2 hours discussing a wide variety of topics from technology in film music to the lack of women writing music for film to candid film composer interviews and everything in between. Thank you very much for taking the time to join us on this very special day for podcasters. Let us know what you thought about the show. I haven't listened yet, but have two points to make. Candid film composer interviews essentially died along with Herrmann, Fielding and Horner. Now it's almost all a big circle jerk to appease the suits (or skinny jeans). As for a lack of women writing for film, that is always something that fans have decried. Film score composition is now mostly pressing buttons or copying others by request, so we may soon also be asking for more male composers as A.I. will likely take over. |

Hopefully some day Britney Spears and Beyonce will start scoring films. Maybe that'll make those damn metoo types happy before things turn violent. ![]() |
