Post subject: | About limited and special editions… |
Some thoughts... Every release does have a connection with some event. Sometimes it’s an anniversary of a movie, the release, re-release or a sequel. But mostly check out the dvd release list of the companies. In my case, the release of the soundtracks of Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte, Star Chamber, Pick Up Artist... - to name a few - was connected with the dvd release in my country. I never did hear about Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte until the score release. A week after the limited soundtrack hit the internet market the movie pops up on dvd in the local stores! The same thing happened recently to the Pick Up Artist and the Star Chamber. The Ryko label did always team up their Deluxe Soundtrack Editions with the release of the film for the home video market. In many cases the studios don’t remember what titles they have in their vaults... Until someone of Intrada, Varese, FilmScoreMonthly, Prometheus, ... informs about a title to release a score soundtrack. If there’s a demand,… So the business starts running… So check out the first upcoming releaselist of movies. They have quite a clue in it. About the upcoming Club Varese. One of the titles does definitely have a connection with the upcoming Rocky Balboa release in theatres. And like DeviantMan in another post suggests, it must by Rocky V. The movie did not have a score release track on any disc whatsoever… plus it’s this year the 30th anniversary of the first one. (Didn’t the movies did get a Dolby 5.1 treatment in the past two years on dvd? One small step further…) Or could it be the rejected score of Jerry Goldsmiths Gladiator, another about boxing … At the end the wild guesses can be reduced too a few. Intrada Signature Editions… You can get no significant clues here. The period landscape is too vast and probably the title too small. If you like poster artwork -like me- a little poster clue perhaps? Nice guessing… and every release will –eventually- contribute to preserve the music (ditto the movies). Intrada and the other companies keep going on… We do trust you’re ‘good taste’… Best regards, Walt |
