The Universal floodgates have opened! https://variety.com/2018/music/news/uni ... 202855031/ This is amazing. Information indicates much more frequent releases, including lots of titles that we have been strongly requesting since the niche labels started releasing Universal Pictures scores. The Sentinel, Airport '77 and '79, Fletch Lives, Two Mules for Sister Sara, The Prisoner of Zenda, Colossus: The Forbin Project... |

Some extra info from MV: "To answer a few questions: 1. Exclusive to LLL? Possibly, but you never know. 2. Both original and expanded releases planned. 3. TV - yes at some point, with Night Stalker, Munsters, 6 Million Dollar Man at the top of the list. 4. Hope to have the first 3 out by years end, then starting in Jan 2019 every other month. MV" So, we won't be bombarded just yet. |

Don't forget that just a couple of weeks ago Doug said that Intrada has a "whole pile" of Universal releases coming up. They might not be part of this new branding, but what difference does it make when they are Universal titles anyway. It's just good to see Intrada not having to carry the entire weight of releasing Universal titles by composers other than John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith and Bernard Herrmann (three composers that Varese and LLL had collectively focused on from the studio). |

Hooray, COLOSSUS: THE FORBIN PROJECT at last! I've been able to make out that the CD contains 47+ minutes which is a puzzler. The last time I watched my U.K. Blu-Ray It didn't seem like there was more than 20-25 minutes of scoring. Perhaps there are alternates, unused material, and cues that had beginnings and/or endings dialed out. Eager to hear this in any case. |

Since the Herrmann titles still seem to be locked by Stylotone, I'm having highest hopes for the remaining (non-Herrmann) Hitchcocks, the missing Mancini & Barry titles and some of the 1950s Skinners. |

I just did a skim through COLOSSUS and find there is actually somewhere in the neighborhood of 33-34 minutes of score. It works superbly in film context. |

While I'm not in the mood to go back and take timings of all the cues, looking at the tracks as listed, the 47:15 total time must be due to the full length of some cues being shortened due to editing or the makers choice. I'm going to love it in any case. To hear this stuff in stereo is sheer heaven. And, it only took 48 years to get it. |

Was slight noise reduction used for Colossus? No complaints as it sounds good, it's just that other older Universal releases tend to have more pronounced tape noise. |
