Well they might just want to respect Williams' wishes on the matter, regardless of what he personally has an actual say in, out of respect for the man. Not to mention, put a strain on any relationship for future releases he WOULD be on board with. |

OMG. Am I the only one who realizes the implication that Intrada DID find elements for Story of a Woman and The Rare Breed, which is why they did inquire further with Williams's people? :O That's got to be considered good news at least, knowing that they have survived the ages. Yavar |

My suspicion is that Williams does none of this communcation himself. He has his "people", and these are the ones labels communicate with. He might also have a set of 'guidelines' that these people operate by, for example that no unreleased scores prior to 1970 are given the green light. Would be interesting to hear how FSM operated within this field; if they required any approval at all from Williams for these types of albums. I just have a hard time imagining labels contacting Williams' people about, say, STORY OF A WOMAN, then they walk into his office and ask for his thoughts, and then he says: "No, relate to them that I'm not interested in having STORY OF A WOMAN released!" But I'm just speculating here. I really don't know how this communication works, and would be delighted if Roger or anyone "in the know" could share some enlightenment on the issue. |

Regarding not wanting certain scores released, John Williams has his reasons. I feel he's earned the right to say which compositions he does or does not wish to have made available, and to keep those reasons to himself should he so choose - just as Intrada have earned the right not to be questioned about what was said, or who said it, or when, or to whom... Yes, it's a shame, but we should respect the man's wishes. |
