I will be happy if they ever release a Deleuxe Edition of my favorite score from their back catalogue, Peter Bernstein's first Ewoks score. I don't care for the movie but score is great.

Serious question. People constantly begged for more expansions, and now that they get them in greater numbers people still argue that the label is holding back. People wanted better mastering decisions, but there are still complaints of substantial dynamic range compression on albums where it clearly doesn't exist. Packaging is often complained about, usually by what seems to be some guy with five different accounts of differing personalities, as if CDs are some sacred item. At least it all provides some amusement. |

Besides different album producers, I think one reason they don't market those soundtracks under the Club is because they are extra niche. I am extremely thrilled to have almost all of the releases you mentioned, but I think many followers of the label look over them because they aren't cut from the typical cloth that is mostly in demand or they are reissues when most are looking for expansions. For instance, you'd probably be hard-pressed to find three other fans of Faltermeyer or the Barbarella album besides myself. |

I believe the Club releases are all limited while the others listed are open-ended releases. |

Yes... reducing dozen different series of releases (since they are not distinguished in any way) and stopping with their sleeves bullshit would be a good start. |

Varese is releasing a 2-disc album for Peter Bernstein's 21 Jump Street scores. Just mentioning in case some cannot find it.  I can't wait to see complaints about its '80s synth-pop sound from those who always require loud orchestral bombast. |

I have a question aboit brickwalling. Roger mentioned Peggy Sue Got Married, someone also called out Bloodline and Executive Decision. The common denominator seems to be Erick Labson. I have a numbet of Varese titles mastered by him, including The Right Stuff, Goonies, Ghostbusters, Stargate and A Gathering of Eagles. Are all his masters brickwalled? Is there a definitive way to check? |
