As far as I know, these are manufactured CDs and are available exclusively through Manfredini's website - http://www.harrymanfredini.com/audio/ ( just follow the directions to Dark Delicacies website and then order - http://www.darkdel.com/ ) Incidentally, Manfredini is doing a CD signing tonight (10/13/06) at Dark Delicacies in Burbank, CA tonight at 7 p.m. (along with composers Alan Howarth, Tyler Bates and Bennett Salvay). In addition to being a fine composer, Manfredini is a genuinely kind person, loves writing music and is nothing like the manic, "heads being lobbed off" type of music that he has become to be known for. Be sure to check out his informative website, which is nicely laid out with a decent amount of audio "Snips" for sampling. Also, be encouraged to drop him a note. He'll mostly likely respond in thoughtful appreciation. Best, ~ Scorehead |

I suppose my reservations stem from buying from Alan Howarth's website, who sells signed CDR copies of his rare scores. That's all well and good, as long as it is specified that these are not factory pressed cd's. But I am very curious to hear from someone who has ordered some Manfredini discs first hand. |

Just heard back from Harry Manfredini and he informs me that, aside from ACES, WISHMASTER, and JASON X, which are manufactured CDs, that the rest are all, in fact, CDRs. He adds that "most of these were never released as an album.. so they were never ever manufactured... there are no CDs. The others are all out of print, from years past.... there are no more copies... so these are also CDrs." Also, he states that if he didn't make the CD available this way, then they wouldn't be available at all. Such is a market where a demand is either there or not - so why factory press a batch of CDs if they can't moved. I made mention to him that some collectors had taken issue with Alan Howarth's sale of non-disclosed CDrs, and that they weren't advertised properly. Also, I told him that this discrepancy had, more or less, a negative effect with fans who have been clamoring for such out of print Cds, and that this had alienated some, especially after the fact. Not wanting to mislead anyone, he said that he would eventually make a note on his site informing collectors of the CD or CDr status of his sites items. Weather they be CDRs or not, does that really matter to the fans? Even when coming from the composer, are CDRs of score collectible? Going back to a previous post ( http://www.intrada.com/phpBB2/viewtopic ... 55&start=0 ), it's about getting the music out, right? So what do you guys think? ~ Scorehead |

I've heard the F13P6 boot, at least the first disc of it. It's not terribly good sound quality; I've heard worse but I don't think it's what you might term "release quality", and there are lots of very short tracks of less than a minute. And the songs might not be licensable (if that's a word). However - this is a boot, and it's up there in the Forum Rules that "we won't tolerate abusive behavior, unnecessarily rude language, or discussions about bootlegs". Intrada are presumably with FSM on the bootleg discussion front, and self-policing is probably better than having The Authorities ride into town and lock threads.... |
