I am aware of the sad passing of these two talented film composers this year. Are there any others?

Luis Bacalov
Dominic Frontiere

Didn't know about either of these passings.

Not so much recognized as a film composer although he did perform on some scores, New York trombonist and composer Roswell Rudd passed away a little over a week ago.

I guess 2004 was perhaps the worst year for composers dying.... Of course Goldsmith, Bernstein, and I believe Raksin died that year as well.... any others in 2004?

I was in Florida when Jerry Goldsmith passed away, around the same time alto saxophonist and composer Steve Lacy left this life.

I would bet a lot of people here can remember what they were doing when they heard about Jerry Goldsmith passing on.

Those were the big ones at least, and they all died within one terrible three week period. Goldsmith one week, Raksin the next, and finally Bernstein. The worst three week period in film music history. Jerry and Elmer were still producing great works, too.

Michael Kamen died late in 2003...that's probably the nearest major film composer death.

2006 was also a rough year because we lost both Basil Poledouris and Shirley Walker.

Kinda morbid subject. :(

Ernest Gold died in 1999, not long after I found an autographed copy of Ship Of Fools at some junkstore in Venice, California.

Before the internet word spread slowly, I only became aware of Georges Delerue passing in 1992 by hearing it on some far off, barely audible radio station when I was in Ohio.
