Could you name some examples where the orchestra's performance and the quality of the recording is so immaculate and engaging that it makes you enjoy the music much more than the composition would otherwise suggest? I've mentioned this one before, but Licence to Kill is one such recording for me. To my ears, it features unparalleled spaciousness, heft and bite with utmost passionate performances. Too bad the album chopped up the music so much. |

There are several that come to mind but I can toss out two at random: Elfman's Nightbreed and Ottman's Eight Legged Freaks. Though perhaps from totally different worlds, I find them both extraordinarily crisp recordings with absolutely stunning performances by the musicians. --Doug |
