I don't have a large wishlist, but this is my only major grail which I cannot help but wait for with bated breath every time there's a new Intrada release announcement. I hope this dream does turn into reality in the not too far future.

We tried, but it's not going to happen.

My internal reaction to this news:

:(

Also disappointing to hear about Moonwalker, but somehow I figured it would be a no-go by Jackson's estate.

I don't know what to say.

Still, thank you so much for trying. It truly means a lot. I hope against hope some kind of miracle may happen and change things in the future.

Sad about DuckTales, the music in that show, given by the samples we have, is pretty magnificent.

But honestly I'm really glad and happy enough that we got the movie OST, and a couple of other great Disney OST's.

Roger, I forgot to thank you in my post. I may be devastated to hear the end result, but it means the world to me that you guys did consider it. Ron tells me you were putting the soundtrack together and were very close to making it happen. Thank you so much for putting in that effort. It was my dream since I joined this forum that that at least would happen.

Still, I wish I knew what was going on in their heads, and if there were a way for us fans to truly get Disney to reconsider and give you the green light. I suppose the most I can take comfort in is knowing that the tapes at least still exist.

If you mean you're unfamiliar with the music that's never been posted online, you're truly missing out. Just give "Treasure of the Golden Suns" or "Super DuckTales" a watch/listen to get a fair gauge of how much of a tragedy this news is.

Ron Jones is still working, so convince Disney to allow a 2-disc promo. We are mostly filmmakers interested in knowing more about his ability. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Not quite, I was exactly saying I had listened to the samples available and indeed, we're missing out on a great album.

That is a bitter, bitter blow :(

Any chance you could specify what the stumbling block is? I'm guessing the main theme, seeing as it wasn't on the movie CD.

Yessss, Roger! But I take it there isn't remaining Friedhofer at Fox that survives beyond what's already been released...I think barring a miracle the best we can hope for is reissues of stuff like Broken Arrow or Soldier of Fortune, with improved sound.

Yavar

Vera Cruz is United Artists and probably rotting in some landfill somewhere.

Vera Cruz cover looks great, except that Hugo wasn't a conductor. In this instance, the music was conducted by Raul Lavista.

Hugo actually did know how to conduct, and did so occasionally. He just preferred to let others conduct, and only did so himself when the budget dictated it. I think I read in the Linda Danly Hugo Friedhofer book that the first (and perhaps only) film score he conducted was Homicidal in 1961. He also conducted some of his TV work in the 60s (maybe I Spy? I'll have to check my FSM disc). I'm gonna have to make my first contribution to this thread by putting together a cover somehow for A Walk in the Forest, his final score. Manderley at the FSM board said he gave the complete tapes to a record producer, but that it mysteriously wasn't Intrada (he supplied tapes to Intrada for on Die, Sister, Die). That was years ago and we've heard nothing since.

One weird thing is that the commercial release of The Bishop's Wife says "composed and conducted by Hugo Friedhofer" on the cover, which is again contradicted by the Danly book about the composer. I wonder who *did* conduct that one, but in any case I think Roger is off the hook for his mistake, when a professional cover for an officially licensed release even misattributed conducting to Hugo. :)

P.S. I sure hope Roger's interest in John's Shirley Walker suggestions bears fruit! I would be all over a Shirley Walker at Disney set...
