Robert O. Ragland - Brilliant and original composer, arranger, orchestrator and conductor who delivered scores far greater than the schlock work he was often given. He could have easily been on the level of the popular "J" composers if given high budget films.

John Scott composed so many excellent scores for mostly B-Movies, He should have been given more high quality/block buster type film projects.

Shirley Walker is my go-to example. An A-list-caliber talent in every respect.

I'd also love to have heard more from Angela Morley.

Lamentably, raw musical brilliance doesn't always correlate with work opportunities.

Jerry Goldsmith. His talent was so far beyond the majority of the films he scored; when given a film as good as he was the results were always historic.

Richard bloody Band. Listen to The Alchemist, Re-Animator, From Beyond, Mutant, Zone Troopers, Ghost Warrior and especially The House on Sorority Row. He has always deserved better than his brother's brain farts.

Walker would definitely fit here - concurred. She did some great work, but unfortunately not a lot of bigger projects came her way. Speaking of female composers, am I the only one who would love to see Anne Dudley helm more projects?

I'll second Shirley Walker.

Based on The Last Starfighter alone, I'd say Craig Safan.

And Christopher Young is definitely an A list quality composer who seems to get B and C level jobs.

I would love Christopher Young to score something along the lines of a Star Trek movie, or a Star Wars anthology film.

Two other composers I would add to my first choice (John Scott).

Benny Carter (All the jazz/noir scores he could have scored)
Hugo Montenegro (The fact that he sadly passed away at 55 year of age has some barring as well)

Staying in that vein, Johnny Douglas scored many cartoons but few feature films. Anyone who can come up with that MAGNIFICENT theme to Dungeons and Dragons surely deserved some feature projects.
