An excellent score for sure, but I don't get why there is so much elation over a new presentation of a score that has had a well-mastered 75-minute album since 2002, along with CDs of the original album.

What would a new release of this score provide to get people all giddy?

I listened to the 2002 album last night (it's been a few years since the last time) and noticed a small "click" defect in a couple of key cues, so I suppose there is some room for improvement.

One thing I forgot about is just how great this recording sounds.

Keep in mind, Mike Matessino is involved and La-La Land equates with top-drawer quality... so one can rest assured there will be reason to support this new presentation. I'm looking forward to it!

It's amazing how so much work goes into producing the final product that we get to sit down and enjoy. And then it becomes all about the composer credited on the cover. Music composed by Gil Melle, Elmer Bernstein, Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams, Jerry Fielding... And I thought my cassette transfers of LPs from a Marantz stereo system sounded good.

I certainly want to add my chorus to the praise of Mike Matessino.

His work has always been amazing, and he's a name I look for when making a score purchase.

I wonder though, what the "remastering" will entail. I have the original MCA CD of E.T., with its wondrously full dynamic range, and I am wondering if this new reissue will be "brickwalled".

Now that I've listened to this expanded and complete soundtrack (which is wonderful), I have to add that it's great to finally have the proper "End Title" as featured in the film. Previous soundtracks featured the alternate, which is pretty close, but doesn't begin with just the solo piano.
