I'm actually happy with the expanded album already. I don't really feel the need for every last note. On the other hand, I'd be thrilled if a significantly expanded STAR TREK 5: THE FINAL FRONTIER showed up. The existent CD is terrific, but far too short.

Yes, I undertand the logic behind limited editions, Yavar. If it weren't for LE's, many titles would still be in limbo to this day. But it's difficult for fans to acquire titles these LE's if out of money.

Streetwise, I too feel that the current ST:TMP is a satisfying listen and a well put together album. But I love the music so much that I want more to enjoy. And yes, STAR TREK V is more in need of expansion. STV will be 20 years old in 2009! Imagine waiting twenty years for an expanded edition of a Goldsmith masterpiece? (Okay, STAR TREK I notwithstanding.)

I forgot MASADA was from Universal, Deviant Man. I love that score. I pop in the Varese CD all of the time. The longer cues are such musical showpieces. Goldsmith's 1979-1983 produced fruitful and beautiful works. Even CABOBLANCO and PLAYERS are musically superior even if the films are garbage. My absolute MOST FAVORITE Goldsmith score, POLTERGEIST, is followed closely by STAR TREK TMP, and I hope his crowning jewel will recieve ALL the recognition it deserves some day.
