All of the missing cues from The Omen were present on the laserdisc isolated score track. The three missing cues from The Final Conflict were presumably considered too short for inclusion. |

What's great about the laserdisc is that it shows that -- whether or not Goldsmith wrote the replacement cues -- all those electronic cues near the start of the film are re-score. The track I really miss is the one where Mrs Baylock kills Kathy. I can understand other cues being left off because they're short. But this is a significant cue. I'm also intrigued by Richard Donner's assertion that the scene where Thorn and the dog stalk each other in the dark house was re-scored. He said that Goldsmith had written a great cue but he wanted to just have the whispering voices. Given that it's my absolute favourite Goldsmith score, I really hope that the complete Omen with re-scores and all comes out one day. Cheers |

Two reasons why the deluxe edition is incomplete: 1. Varese produced it. 2. Jerry Goldsmith presided over the final album master and chose what to include and omit. So, I guess we'll be purchasing the definitive complete edition some time in the future. |

Yeah, DeviantMan. I know how Goldsmith was reticent about complete releases. We're lucky he let the TOTAL RECALL DELUXE pass inspection. Now that was a feast!! For totally selfish reasons, now that Goldsmith is gone, fans might hear the most definitive version down the road. I think Sony should do a complete STAR TREK THE MOTION PICTURE as well. |
