Another soundtrack that deserves a re-release as the expanded edition is Orca. Also known as Orca...Killer Whale. Ennio Morricone did a another brilliant job with this score. |

For one reason or other, and I suspect licensing as usual, the vocal version of the main theme which plays over the end credits, didn't make it onto the previous CD release. I sure was fond of it when I first saw the film at 13 years old. I don't recall much else unreleased but I'd definitely be happy to revisit this score. |

Licensing was definitely the problem all the way around. Musician fees and whatnot got bypassed several times over in Japan. Orca was never "officially" produced, hence the album appeared only via the TAM label in Japan. Similar situations happened with LPs for Meteor (Laurence Rosenthal), The Domino Principle (Billy Goldenberg), Somebody Killed Her Husband (Alex North), Sailor Who Fell From Grace With The Sea (Johnny Mandel), Follow Me (John Barry) and others from that mid to late-seventies period. --Doug |
