This thread was started thanks to those who hijacked another thread and turned it into a bitch forum against another retailer. This thread is about NOTHING OTHER THAN THE NEW TITLE. Please respect the subject..... I'm gonna guess "Dracula" by John Williams. It's by John Williams....he straddles golden and silver ages...it's a 70s title....and its masters were thought to have been lost. Do I think it WILL be "Dracula"? Nah. But it's fun to guess titles that fit the clues. It's not "exactly" sci-fi....but I don't care. |

Hm, I can't remember any hint from Doug or Roger that said this new release is a 70's score. If it really is, then Heavy Metal, Saturn 3, Slipstream and Spacecamp all seem to be out of the game. What's left? Escape from the Planet of the Apes could be possible. As far as I know, the only material from this one that exists out there is a suite. No idea how much else was left unreleased or if the masters were ever considered lost. |

I'm probably simply misremembering/misinterpreting what I "think" I remember about the clues. It's just a game.... ![]() |

Another clue was Cool Sci-fi... DRACULA is horror, so it can't be the next release. Though, becasue Intrada is so close to Universal right now, they might soon have a deal that lets them do this and some other Universal cinematic classics. I really do hope that SATURN 3 is the one... I've been waiting for this one for sooooooooooo long! The movie itself, despite all of the muddle production and casting choices, had a compelling premise and decent producton design. The most interesting characters are Harvey Keitel and the robot HECTOR and the story is about their demise. Or rather the poetic justice served to Keitel's character, who realizing far too late, that his unstable nature (and deeds) would be transfered to the "innocent" brain of the android. The film should have explored that aspect further with a better final confrontation between Keitel and his Frankenstein. Come to think of it, this story would have worked better as a 30 minute Twilight Zone episode. |

I have a real nostalgia for Saturn 3, although it's pretty reviled by most people. I remember seeing it on NBC Sunday Night at the Movies or something in the mid 80-s and thought the robot was THE coolest thing I had ever seen. I still think the efx hold up pretty well. Didn't care about the romance (Kirk Douglas and Farrah Fawcett???? Aye carumba!), or know that Stanley 'Singing in the Rain' Donen was WAY out of his league, but remember thinking Harvey Keitel looked real mean with his pony tail, and the sets were neat. Never even made the connection between the Taarna theme from Heavy Metal and the love theme here until years later.... |
