Hi there,

My first time over here!

1-I wonder if there is a way to verify authenticity of Intrada CDs through a Matrix number lookup page or a full list or catalog with the # --- CD name.
Many out of print CDs are available from 3rd parties, new and used, but there is a huge problem too with piracy and counterfeit. I've been googling for a while to no avail.
This method of verification will definitively help me!

2-For that matter, today I'm looking for the Matrix number of James Horner's Wolfen 185, in which CD I only can see a minuscule printing in the center ring: " .⌒Disc Makers", but no number so far.

I can’t help you with the Wolfen disc specifically as I have it deeply stored away, but the method will differ depending on title (though there is of course usually an IFPI number). Many of Intrada’s discs are manufactured by Disc Makers and indeed sport that logo on the disc, which should include Wolfen, and numerous others are manufactured by the Sony, Warner or Universal music companies.

If the booklet and everything else looks right, I wouldn’t worry about it. I could be wrong, but this current market is probably too niche for pirates to care so much about accuracy in their limited edition soundtrack bootlegs.

I'm not 100% relieved by your answer.
There is still a little doubt.
In one hand, is good to know that that's the logo that should sport the Wolfe disc, but the logo is amazingly small in comparison with other Intrada discs I have. So small that I was able to read it by scanning the center ring at 1200 DPI and then blowing out the image 1:1. Only then I could read the logo. In other Intrada CDs I have, I can read it with the naked eye (and a little effort).

On the other hand I think that if you think that Soundtrack market is a niche one because of the lack of interest of the counterfeiters, you might want to think that twice:
1-Since I decided to be a Soundtrack collector, 6 months ago, I have received 2 fake "Original" CDs from purchases over internet.
One made on a authentic "Digital Audio Compact Disc" This is a real printed CD; not a burned one! The CD number printed in the artwork and CD label, match the number pressed in the inner ring of the CD. But the number used is nowhere in the official catalog of the company label.
The other, was "Burned" in a CD-R and not printed. The label printed in the CD was made using a professional technic (equipment), although with a poor design, and the artwork of the inserts (paper) are so good that one can't see the difference. Another indicator here is the number used to identify the CD. It doesn't existe in the official catalog of the legit manufacturer.
Both CDs are supposed to be from Varése Sarabande!
2-The number of "warnings" that sellers put in their stores on e-bay about selling "only originals", "no copies", "no CD-Rs", no counterfeits", etc. is a flag of what is going on in the soundtrack collectors market.

I'm gonna leave here then, an image of the printed information in the inner ring of the Wolfe's CD in the hope that someone can confirm is the same he/she has in the Wolf CD. Specially if it was bought directly from Intrada and/or by/near the year it was released.

The markings match those on the WOLFEN disc I purchased direct from Intrada in 2011.
