Btw, what exactly is the status of DRACULA then?

Some sources suggest it's lost, others that at least mono elements survive... the others that something might have been found and it is in the works...

Either way this seems like Intrada territory considering it's again combination of UNIVERSAL movie, released on LP by MCA...

Last night I played the new JAWS album set for the first time and its a revelation. What Mike Mattessino has accomplished is nothing short of a miracle. The superb panning of instruments and the main star the 'cellos and strings' beautifully made for a dynamic listening experience. It was a riveting experience. JAWS never sounded or breathed better on cd. So kudos to MM and the Intrada team. But really its MM's magic (and after this I'm sure Williams will not have anyone else get on the next restoration bandwagon wink Hopefully other important projects with MM and Williams will entail with the support of Intrada/LLL labels)

I also compared the old MCA disc and the horrible muddy 2000 Decca edition as well as the McNeely recording. It was a JAWS fest. The Alternates were wonderful nuggets that I enjoyed thoroughly. The different percussion bits and nuances are icing on the top. The booklet is rather more detailed and nice to features pictures from the actual recording sessions.

I'll just say this JAWS set is the definitive one. The Re-recording sounds fresh and more vibrant now. The McNeely recording is also great but it still doesn't have the edge that the original recordings offer but is fresh new recording with different nuances and instruments so its an enjoyable romp nonetheless.

It's epic owning all four of these soundtracks as the expanded editions. Decca did an okay job with Jaws as the Collector's Edition but the sound was bad as in the volume too low. Intrada did a much better job. Also getting Jaws 2, Jaws 3-D and Jaws The Revenge as expanded is also epic. Even though Jaws The Revenge flopped in the box office, the best thing about the movie is the music.

Listening this evening to this peerless release of what could be the awakening of symphonic film music in the conscious of the 70s. It’s hard to express how grateful I am that Intrada made this happen. So easily taken for granted. This release is a gold mine of music we thought we knew but didn’t. And it sounds so beautiful. Thank you Doug and Roger.

Re "reconfiguring the program"... the reconfiguring could be adding more, couldn't it. What about a sound clip from the movie? "You're going to need a bigger boat". If that couldn't be licensed, what about recording Roger saying "You're going to need a bigger boat"? Tack it on at the end. Problem solved.
