I am INCREDULOUS that even Doug passed over this one (even with runners-up!) Not only did it deservedly win an Oscar, but it is one of Barry's most atypical, "out of the box" works. '60s: THE LION IN WINTER!!! (Runner Up: Zulu) '70s: The Last Valley (easy!) '80s: Out of Africa (even though it doesn't touch the previous two) '90s: Dances With Wolves, no contest (and when will we get the *real* complete score?) '00s: Enigma was the only one written...do you really like Enigma so much better than Dances With Wolves, Doug, that you would bump it a few years earlier to fit it in the 90s? ![]() Yavar |

And let me say again, The Lion in Winter, The Lion in Winter, The Lion in Winter! Maybe the best movie Barry has ever scored as well. Strike the maybe and make it a probably. I'm shocked! Yavar |

Yeah, my copy of Enigma came out in, what, something like 1997. No matter what you guys think. Of course, I'm just working from memory but I know it'll never fail me. Never. However, if it does, I'll just fess up and pick Dances With Wolves for the 90's. And yes, Lion In Winter would be in my runners up, too. But so would Goldfinger and Ipcress File and Quiller Memorandum and... Face it. Those 60's are just one heck of a decade for this guy! --Doug |

The '60s: The Lion in Winter (runner-up: The Whisperers) The '70s: Diamonds are Forever (runner-up: Walkabout) The '80s: Somewhere in Time (runner-up: Frances) The '90s: Chaplin (runner-up: Dances wth Wolves) The '00s: Eternal Echoes (Granted, this is no actual film score, but I like it much better than Enigma) Wow! That's a tough choice to make! As far as the sixties are concerned everything was so unique and fresh. And still great after this forty odd years time span: Goldfinger, Petulia, You Only Live Twice, The Knack, Deadfall, On Her Majesty's secret Service, The IPCRESS File, Boom!, and the list goes on and on... |
