The current decade ain't the greatest, true, but being born in 1969 I do have a soft spot for the '80s and a fair bit of the '90s. |

A personal favorite of mine: "Jake Speed" By: Mark Snow The sounds, which I believe to be 95% electronic synth, are unminstakably 80's, but while other may say it sounds dated, I have to say so what? It's got chatchy themes and mortifs and is a fun listen from beginning to end. Varese Sarabande released a 30min LP. I hope for a complete, remastered score one day. Fans of his work for "The X-Files" (and "MillenniuM") who find this isn't anywhere near the Mark Snow we know these days. A couple cues end in an X-Files-ish way, but other than that, this doesn't sound like Mark Snow of the 90's/00's. I have the second largest collection of his work, and nothing comes close to this. It's my personal favorite of his movie work. Lest we forget Mike Post & Pee Carpenter's work on "Magnum, pi" was an 80's thing. (additional composers not mentioned). Star Trek 4: The Voyage Home -- Leonard Rosenman Star Trek 5: The Final Frontier -- Jerry Goldsmith, R.I.P. One of this best, how could you guys forget? |
