I'm going to say Howard Shore's The Lord of the Rings, if for no other reason than they're already proving to be immensely popular. The Minnesota Orchestra, here in Minneapolis, will be performing an entire programme of Shore's scores for these films in mid-October.

I'm probably being a little harsh on Zimmer's "Gladiator" -- I own a copy and do enjoy it on occasion.

I'd certainly agree that Shore's LOTR would be a good candidate for younger generations. I also hear a few younger folk mentioning Newman's "American Beauty" and Elfman's "Edward Scissorhands".

While MISSION IMPOSSIBLE III left me cold, X-MEN 3 really turned out to be the surprise of the year. I went out and bought it soon after seeing the film.

V For Vendetta is starting to grow on me.
