I notice there's been a price hike on all of Intrada's titles at their Amazon store. Any reason? ![]() |

Yeah, we've covered this before. When we released our first limited edition CD (First Blood) way back in 1988, we retailed it for $19.99. Fast forward over a quarter century later. We STILL sell our CDs for that price. But here's a big surprise... no other production costs in this industry have remained the same! We pay more for every part: royalties, mechanical licenses, element transfers, mixing, editing, mastering, printing, packaging, pressing, freight, marketing... to say nothing of other business overhead costs like leases, labor and so forth. Gosh! It doesn't take rocket science to see the margins have been squeezed into oblivion here. You're lucky that soundtrack labels have been absorbing all these costs over the years just to get this stuff out there. Add Amazon to our ever-increasing costs. I'm sorry about the prices on Amazon going up but must admit, since you can still get the discs from us at the same old price AND you can actually help us keep more music coming by supporting us directly... well, I'm not all THAT unhappy that Amazon has become a more expensive route. ![]() --Doug |

Doug, Roger, Jeff, and everyone else on Team Hamsters: We film-music collectors (who actually BUY discs and don't settle for downloading soundtracks) are an extremely small niche within the number of global consumers. Even so, there probably aren't enough of us who bother to thank you for your collective investment of careers, financial resources, and personal energy into assembling and delivering these fine packages to us -- a market that frequently responds with more sniping complaints than gratitude. So I'll thank you ... again. If staff ever has to return to this forum to explain again the costs of doing business which Intrada and other specialty labels have absorbed in order to keep your prices so low, consider the bright side: It may indicate that the size of your market has expanded to include more new customers who haven't been around long enough to be familiar with the explanation! |

I stopped complaining about music prices after buying the $750 "Complete Elvis Presley Masters" set, as it would seem quite hypocritical to do so. ![]() Thankfully, I have not regretted that purchase. |
