I just watched this film for the first time in decades. I know people have asked for an expanded release, but I am somewhat confused. I timed the music in the film and it comes in at just around 23 minutes. The suite on the Varese album is 22 minutes. I'm not an expert on this score so I couldn't tell you what's the missing 1 minute, so maybe some here can. And why is it such a hotly desired expansion when the Varese release was nearly complete? |

The Twilight Time isolated score has almost 40 minutes not including a few source cues. Perhaps some cues were unused in the film. Yavar |

Roger, there was more music recorded for the film than was used in the final cut of the film. Here's what's on the Blu Ray's isolated score track: 01. Opening Credits (1:38) 02. Holland And Niles Playing* (0:37) 03. Father's Death Flashback (0:56) 04. Piggy's Rats (1:39) 05. Talking With Mother (1:02) 06. Flowers For Mom / Playing* (1:05) 07. Holland On Harmonica (0:19) 08. The Game (2:17) 09. The Finger (0:09) 10. The Carnival (3:13) 11. New Book For mother (0:55) 12. Mother In Bloom (2:00) 13. Ada's Angel (1:44) 14. Mother's Discovery** (3:36) 15. Running To Church (0:33) 16. Holland's Grave (2:51) 17. Comforted by Ada & Holland (5:22) 18. Imaginary Brother* (0:52) 19. New Baby / Sick Mother* (3:12) 20. Baby Found (3:00) 21. After The Fire (1:33) BONUS TRACKS 22. Lullaby For Holland (Radio)* (1:45) 23. Mrs. Rowe On Piano (0:32) 24. Mrs. Rowe Dead (Radio) (0:58) * = UNUSED ** = PARTIALLY UNUSED So as you can see, a new CD release would be warranted ![]() |

Sounds like there's a goof 45-50 minute album of The Other waiting to be created ![]() |

With that pace Varese is releasing now this scores they own in perpetuity we will possibly see the end of the physical CD sooner than a release of "The Other". ![]() And this score would fit so perfectly into Intrada's catalogue! |

Varese released "The Other" back in 1997 coupled with "Mephisto Waltz". Let's face it, Waltz could need a remastering, too. And perhaps the missing overlays were found in the meantime. |

Oh man I really hope Varese prioritizes this one because it is just a gorgeous score. I won't lie -- I'd buy The Mephisto Waltz over again as well, of course. But then I'd also re-buy Planet of the Apes and any/all of The Omen scores (not sure if they control all of them in perp) if they released superior versions. Yavar |

The Omen scores and Apes are all sold by Varese on iTunes and the like, so they very likely have perpetual rights to those. Therefore, you will probably have to wait for "Deluxier Editions" of the Omen series that will miss only two uninteresting cues instead of a few. Licensing terms are sometimes so specific that Intrada might be able to do re-releases of all on vinyl. ![]() |
