On Dec 15th the Quartet label will announce three Expanded releases (2 are Double cds). *Morricone, Goldsmith, and Mancini* |

Interesting. Hopefully the Morricone release is finally Orca from high quality tapes. I would mention Two Mules for Sister Sara, but that concerns Universal and UMG, the former company being one that I do not recall Quartet ever working with for older titles. |

They are The Pink Panther Strikes Again (Mancini, 2 CD set, 1000 copies) Sahara (Morricone, 2 CD set, 1000 copies) King Solomon's Mines (Goldsmith, 2 CD set, 1000 copies) |

I know people will think I'm nuts but Sahara is my favorite Morricone score. And the first note of music I ever heard by him. The love theme is stunning. |

In that case congratulations are in order Roger! But if it's your favorite, how did you let Quartet get to it first? ![]() Yavar |

Very nice batch. Sahara and Pink Panther Strikes Again were no-brainers. Every time a definitive Pink Panther album comes out the more hopeful I am that A Shot in the Dark will become a reality, studio problems with older elements be damned. |

Well Quartet seems to be working their way backwards through the scores. I hope they get there too! |

I knew about the previous Intrada issue but of course I was speaking about a complete release. You answered my question though and I'm glad Quartet decided it was worth doing especially since it's your favorite Morricone. Yavar |

As a lover of good liner notes (part of why I prefer physical product to downloads) that 24 page booklet is also pretty damn sexy! I'll be interested to know whether you find the complete score worthwhile, Roger, but even if it's not your preference they're providing you with the complete album program on disc 2 as well, so best of both worlds! I see that Quartet mentioned on the FSM forum that the Mancini estate has mono tapes for A Shot in the Dark and the rights are held by Sony Music. I hope the quality of those tapes is good enough for Intrada to deem them releasable. |
