Hi Doug, Please tell us - do you have any favorite Morton Stevens scores? I think MASADA is one of them, but are there any others? God, I just love all his stuff! Thanks!...-:) |

I hope someone throws you a bone soon. I've been revisiting Thriller lately, a show of which his scores are quite good. His score for "Pigeons from Hell" really did its utmost in enhancing the creepy mood and atmosphere of that classic episode. |

I was just thinking of Mort, as he has been gone now for 23 years today - where did that time go? Anyway, here's to hoping that we will see a CD or two of his wonderful music soon... ![]() |

I Was just watching the next to last episode of CIMARRON STRIP on my DVD box set and I just love how Mort Stevens continued to use cues of his "Major Glory" score from GUNSMOKE in the show (Mort was credited as "Music Supervisor"). I never tire of hearing these cues - they just plain WORK! MAJOR GLORY is a very exciting and unusual score for a western and it is such a pleasure to listen to. I have this episode on DVR, but I look forward to getting an official DVD release when CBS puts out Season Thirteen of GUNSMOKE. Anyway, Mort received a well-deserved Emmy Nomination for MAJOR GLORY. Bruce Broughton has also mentioned that it is one of his favorite Mort Stevens scores....truly wonderful stuff!!!... ![]() |
