I was listening to Basil Poledouris' score for Kimberly the other day, and only then realized that I've been overlooking quite a lovely work. The album is a nicely constructed 30 minutes.
I very much enjoy Poledouris' pop sensibilities whenever he employed them. The main theme is uplifting and played in numerous variations that is most enjoyable in its robust brass-led form. The theme really hits its stride in the cue "The Race" where Poledouris was able to add his keen sense of action scoring. Just ignore the talking you hear at about 30 seconds in.
So, are there any scores in the much-maligned romantic comedy genre that you feel are underappreciated?
